Munich (dpa / lby) - Despite the crisis in earnings, coach Michael Köllner from third division club TSV 1860 Munich continues to have the trust of the club's management. "There has been some speculation in the media over the past few days. But I'm not speculating, I'm analyzing. There is no form of ultimatum," said Günther Gorenzel, Managing Director Sport, before the home game against Rot-Weiss Essen on Monday (7 p.m ). The ambitious lions have all lost the last three league games and are no longer on a promotion spot.
"We know that we haven't covered ourselves in glory in the last few games. Only, we know exactly why it is and I can see a very clear plan from our head coach," said Gorenzel. Investor Hasan Ismaik also backed Köllner via social networks: "We mustn't make the mistake of questioning everything now, not even the coach."
Köllner himself, however, criticized the internal problems in the club. "If any insider information gets through to the press, that's not a glorification for a successful club. We've been dealing with that for weeks," said the coach. This deliberately spread misinformation would have contributed to the lions not being successful recently.
The lions now want to reverse the trend against newly promoted Essen. "We will do everything to get back on the road to success," said Köllner, but added: "It will be a difficult game for us". Clearer Quirin Moll is questionable due to illness. Central defender Michael Glück underwent successful surgery after breaking his nose, but is not yet an option for the Essen game.
