Zusmarshausen (dpa/lby) - Under their new coach Enrico Maaßen, FC Augsburg had to settle for a draw in a friendly for the first time. After two 5-0 wins, the Augsburg team couldn't get past a 1-1 (1-0) draw against the second division soccer team from Baden-Württemberg in Zusmarshausen on Friday.

Daniel Caligiuri gave Augsburg the lead in the 37th minute with a free kick converted from the bottom left. Shortly before the end, the Czech newcomer Matej Pulkrab (84th) saved the sand houses from defeat. Ermedin Demirovic, who was only recently signed from SC Freiburg, was not yet with FCA.

Of the new players, only defender Maxi Bauer started for Augsburg. At half-time, Maassen shook his team and brought in seven fresh players. Lasse Günther, who was new to the game, had to leave the field after a few minutes with a thigh injury. Shortly before the end, Florian Niederlechner still had the chance to make it 2-1.

The Augsburgers will move into a training camp in Scheffau, Austria, from Sunday. On July 31st, the first competitive game in the DFB-Pokal at the Lower Saxony regional league team TuS Blau-Weiss Lohne is coming up.
