Berlin: One person is killed and eight are injured when a car passes by passers-by.

According to firefighters, a car ran over passers-by in central Berlin on Wednesday morning, killing one and injuring eight more, according to AFP.

According to a police spokesperson, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody after it crashed into a window in the shopping district close to the Zoo station.

According to "Bild", this victim is a male and the photo published by the newspaper shows rescuers and police working around a stretcher.

These facts were made near the Memorial Church, a landmark in Berlin's western region. It is located at the Kurfurstendamm, one of Berlin’s busiest commercial roads.

Numerous police officers were present at the scene. They are also situated near the spot where, on December 19, 2016, an Islamist truck attack on a Christmas market left 12 people dead.

According to "BZ", it is a silver-colored Renault car.

Twitter user @twitterphotos posted a photo showing a small vehicle with its passenger door open and embedded in the window at a large perfumery chain.
