DFB Cup 1st round: Celebration day for the "lions": BVB duel in focus

Comeback for Edin Terzic, celebration for 1860 Munich. Right at the start of the first round of the DFB Cup, the third division underdog TSV 1860 Munich promises a spectacle with a special opponent.

Champions League starter Borussia Dortmund is playing today (8.45 p.m. / ZDF and Sky) in the venerable Grünwalder Stadium. BVB coach Terzic celebrates his competitive comeback on the bench.

With the DFB Cup victory for Dortmund, the 39-year-old said goodbye last summer and handed his place to Marco Rose, who has since been fired again. Dortmund don't want to be surprised. "This competition is very important to us. We want to approach each round very conscientiously, professionally and with determination," said Terzic before the performance in Munich.

The encounter is a highlight for the "lions". The stadium is sold out with 15,000 spectators. But coach Michael Köllner knows what his team expects. "I think they can do everything better than us. Dortmund is a team that will reach at least second place in the league. We're number 70, 60, 50, maybe 40 in the league. That's a mismatch for us. Actually, we have we don't stand a chance," said the coach of the third division.

The two teams meet for the fifth time in the cup - Dortmund won nine years ago 2-0 after extra time in Munich. The "Lions" were able to prevail once: in 1964 in the first round game with 3:1.
