dr Motte's techno parade: ravers leave behind 135 cubic meters of waste

On Saturday, Loveparade founder Dr. Motte on the new techno move "Rave The Planet" to Berlin. Attention should be paid to sustainability and the avoidance of waste, but this does not work as well as hoped. In addition, Motte is currently being criticized for a questionable action.

After the giant rave with an estimated 200,000 people, the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) collected 135 cubic meters of waste over the weekend. By Sunday morning, 100 employees and 46 vehicles had been deployed to clean up after the "Rave The Planet" techno parade, the BSR said on request.

Accordingly, packaging such as beverage cartons and glass were mainly collected. 135 cubic meters correspond to 135,000 liters. For comparison: Statistically, about 20 liters of residual waste per week are generated per inhabitant.

Actually, the organizers around Loveparade founder Matthias Roeingh alias Dr. Motte asked the revelers in advance to refrain from bringing plastic containers, glass bottles and other rubbish with them and, on top of that, to come on site on Sunday morning to clean up.

The techno spectacle on Saturday attracted around ten times as many people as were registered for the demonstration. For hours they celebrated and danced alongside 18 music floats aka "Floats" on a route from the western city center past Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate to the Victory Column.

The organizers want to take stock of the parade tomorrow, Tuesday. The police had said on Sunday that the move was "largely trouble-free". In the end, however, the Straße des 17. Juni became so crowded that "dangerous situations" arose.

A discussion also broke out on social media about Roeingh's behavior, who had held up a sticker to the crowd from the "Rave The Planet" float, on which the symbol of the controversial "Freedom Parade" lateral thinker event was emblazoned. This became known during Corona, among other things, for its criticism of the measures and vaccinations. One of their figureheads is Michael Bründel, alias Captain Future, who is also said to be close to the AfD. Several posters and flags from the "Freedom Parade" could also be seen in the party crowd itself.

Matthias Roeingh later wrote on Twitter that he did not know and apologized. He also added another tweet shortly afterwards, in which he distanced himself from lateral thinkers and fascism. It is not known whether he will also comment on this tomorrow.
