Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - The accident involving a truck loaded with pumpkins on the A3 caused the Frankfurt-Süd exit to be closed on Friday night. The 79-year-old truck driver, who was heading towards Cologne, was about to leave Frankfurt-Süd around 1.30 a.m. when he left the road and drove up a slope, a police spokesman said. The man sustained minor injuries.
The truck, which had tilted at a considerable angle, was recovered by two cranes in the morning, the spokesman said. He will now be towed. The truck's load, which consisted of 15 tons of pumpkins and potatoes, was not damaged. The route was closed until Friday morning. It was initially unclear why the truck driver left the road. Allegedly, the spokesman said, he was cut by another vehicle.
