"Hesse alone in the 500 club" - The current corona numbers explained for you

49,609 new corona cases were reported to the RKI for yesterday. In a week-on-week comparison, this results in a strong minus of almost 25 percent.

It is now the 13th consecutive business day with a decline compared to the previous week.

The 7-day average for new infections also continues to fall – it is currently around 53,500 cases. The value was last this low in mid-June.

The downward momentum in the infection process continues unabated. This is particularly evident in the week-on-week comparison of the new corona cases on a 7-day average. The value is now at minus 28 percent.

But the decline in active cases is also accelerating. The number is now around 13 percent down on the previous week.

Around 1.6 million people in Germany are currently actively infected with the corona virus.

The nationwide 7-day incidence continues to fall, from 432 to 417. It falls in all federal states with the exception of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Saarland has also fallen below the symbolic incidence threshold of 500. This means that Hessen remains the only federal state above this mark. Neighboring Thuringia, on the other hand, ranks at the lower end - with an incidence of 247.

141 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday. The number adds up to 879 deceased in the current week. The level of the previous week has already been exceeded.
