Hesse: Climate activists continue to occupy the lecture hall in Marburg

Marburg (dpa/lhe) - Climate activists continued to occupy the large lecture hall of the Philipps University of Marburg on Wednesday. As a spokeswoman for the university said, the presidium has spoken out in favor of tolerating the occupation until Wednesday evening. The approximately 30 protesting students were originally supposed to leave the Audimax on Tuesday. According to the university, lectures are still taking place despite the occupation.

With their action, the demonstrators want to draw attention to climate change. Among other things, they are calling for a turnaround in traffic and the move away from fossil fuels.

According to its own statement, the movement wants to occupy schools and universities worldwide until December. The campaign began on October 24th at the university in Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony.
