Hesse: counterparty cut throat: manslaughter charge

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Because he is said to have cut another man's throat in an argument and killed him, the public prosecutor's office has brought charges against a 32-year-old. The man from Rüdesheim will probably have to answer for manslaughter in court, said senior public prosecutor Nadja Niesen from the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office on Friday.

It's been two and a half months since the crime. According to Niesen, at the beginning of May there was a dispute between the Eritrean and a 20-year-old compatriot for an unknown reason. The victim received a deep stab in the upper abdomen, shortly afterwards the throat and carotid artery were severed. The man died at the scene of the crime.

Shortly thereafter, the perpetrator turned himself in at a nearby consulate and claimed to have killed someone. After that he gave no further information. So far, there have been no indications of alcohol or drug abuse, said Niesen. Dates for the trial before the jury chamber of the district court have not yet been set.
