Hesse: Curious cabbage theft employs the police

Ginsheim-Gustavsburg (dpa/lhe) - A man and a woman are said to have stolen kilos of cabbage fresh from the field in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg in southern Hesse. Witnesses had observed the two diligently harvesting white cabbages on Tuesday, as the police announced on Wednesday about the curious case. The alarmed officials found not only the two 54 and 48-year-old suspects, but also three carrying bags bulging with a total of 48 kilos of cabbage. The man and woman are now facing charges of theft. A police spokesman said it was not known exactly what they intended to do with the lavish amount of vegetables.
