Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The demand by two Hessian CDU ministers for the storage of IP addresses caused the Green coalition partner to be alienated, according to their own statements. The leader of the Greens parliamentary group in the state parliament, Mathias Wagner, said on Monday in Wiesbaden: "Once again, the two ministers are not giving the opinion of the coalition on the subject of data retention, but their own opinion." Interior Minister Peter Beuth and Justice Minister Roman Poseck (both CDU) are not speaking for the black-green coalition and therefore not for the state government, said Wagner.
Beuth and Poseck are calling on the federal government to ensure that IP addresses for the prosecution of serious crimes have to be kept longer by telecommunications providers. They argued that this data is essential for the success of investigations into cases of sexual abuse of children, for example.
