Fulda (dpa/lhe) - A driver was seriously injured in an accident after an attempt to overtake on the B279 in Eichenzell near Fulda. Between the districts of Rothemann and Döllbach, the 59-year-old collided sideways with the trailer of a car in front when she stopped overtaking, the police said on Monday evening. She then got into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a car from oncoming traffic. Its 63-year-old driver was slightly injured.
The 59-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said. According to the first medical assessment, the injuries are not life-threatening. Two other vehicles from oncoming traffic were also involved in the accident. Police estimate the damage to property at around $20,000.
