Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: More than 2,200 people protest against energy policy

Neubrandenburg/Rostock/Wismar (dpa/mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, more than 2,200 people protested in several places against the federal energy policy and the consequences for consumers. As police spokesman said on Tuesday, there were demonstrations on Monday evening in Wismar, Rostock, Neubrandenburg, Neustrelitz, Parchim, Güstrow, Bad Doberan and Teterow (Rostock district). In most places, the Russia sanctions of Germany and the EU because of the war of aggression against Ukraine were criticized by demonstrators.

In Neubrandenburg, almost 400 people were counted walking along the city ring road with banners and flags and blocking traffic. Around 450 participants came together in Wismar and Parchim. In addition, flags with doves of peace could be seen at several protest actions. On Mondays in spring in the north-east there were demonstrations against the Corona policy, but also against the sharp rise in fuel prices.
