Friedberg (dpa/lhe) - Five people were injured in a rear-end collision involving three cars and a truck on the A5 near Friedberg (Wetteraukreis). However, after the collision on Saturday night, they were not in mortal danger, as a spokesman for the Gießen police headquarters announced. The collision occurred when a 53-year-old drove his car into a car in front of him. This then crashed into another vehicle, which in turn hit a truck from behind.
The 53-year-old was probably traveling at too high a speed, it said. Both he and the four occupants of the vehicle in front of him were injured in the collision and taken to hospital as a precaution. The suspected cause of the accident is now being investigated for negligent bodily harm. The police estimate the property damage at around 75,000 euros.
