Hanau (dpa/lhe) - In the trial for the violent death of a four-year-old boy before the Hanau district court, the accused mother has the last word after the pleadings by the public prosecutor's office and the defense on Tuesday (2 p.m.). The public prosecutor's office had demanded a life sentence for the 61-year-old on charges of communal murder and the issuance of a new arrest warrant against her.
On the other hand, the defense pleaded for acquittal and compensation for the detention suffered by the woman. According to the indictment, on August 17, 1988, the German put her child in a sack, tied it over her head and placed it in the care of an alleged cult leader. She is said to have tried to kill the boy and persuaded the boy's mother that her son was the "reincarnation of Hitler, a power sadist and obsessed with the dark". A few months ago, an arrest warrant against the mother was suspended because, from the point of view of the court, there was no longer any urgent suspicion of joint murder. It was also said at the time that there were "no important indications" for aiding and abetting the murder. The verdict is scheduled for October 4th. The alleged cult leader, who is now 75 years old, was already convicted of murder around two years ago, but the Federal Court of Justice overturned this decision in May of this year and referred the case to a jury chamber of the Frankfurt Regional Court for a new hearing and decision.
