Hesse: Glasner after cup duty: “Let’s be lenient”

Stuttgart (dpa / lhe) - After the lackluster cup progress at Oberliga club Stuttgarter Kickers, Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach Oliver Glasner was merciful with his professionals. "There was a lack of energy going forward, but with this workload I have to be lenient. I used to be a player myself and I can understand if you only play half-time with half your strength in the heavy program - even if I think so as a coach, of course I wish differently," said Glasner late on Tuesday evening after the 2-0 goal from Randal Kolo Muani and Hrvoje Smolcic.

For Eintracht, who failed in the first round of the DFB Cup last year at Waldhof Mannheim, it was a duty in the midst of turbulent weeks. "In the second half we shifted down a gear, even if we didn't want to. However, the victory was not in jeopardy, I didn't see the opponent's chances," said the head coach from Austria, who experimented a bit with personnel. After the Bundesliga guest appearance in Gladbach on Saturday, the Champions League duel with Olympique Marseille awaits next week. Eintracht is currently last in their preliminary round group.
