Stuttgart (dpa / lhe) - After the lackluster cup progress at Oberliga club Stuttgarter Kickers, Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach Oliver Glasner was merciful with his professionals. "There was a lack of energy going forward, but with this workload I have to be lenient. I used to be a player myself and I can understand if you only play half-time with half your strength in the heavy program - even if I think so as a coach, of course I wish differently," said Glasner late on Tuesday evening after the 2-0 goal from Randal Kolo Muani and Hrvoje Smolcic.
For Eintracht, who failed in the first round of the DFB Cup last year at Waldhof Mannheim, it was a duty in the midst of turbulent weeks. "In the second half we shifted down a gear, even if we didn't want to. However, the victory was not in jeopardy, I didn't see the opponent's chances," said the head coach from Austria, who experimented a bit with personnel.
