Hesse: Hesse is demanding more money from the federal government for buses and trains

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - According to the Hessian Minister of Transport Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens), a follow-up offer to the 9-euro ticket is only possible with more money from the federal government. Al-Wazir said on Thursday that the federal states are ready to introduce a nationwide ticket for initially 49 euros a month and to make a financial contribution. However, the condition is that not only this ticket, but also the operation of buses and trains is permanently financed.

The federal government must provide more regionalization funds for the operation and expansion of local public transport (ÖPNV) and funds for the increased energy costs. "The best ticket is useless if the bus doesn't come anymore," emphasized Al-Wazir. The federal and state governments had discussed the topic at a conference of transport ministers in Bremerhaven.
