Hesse: Hesse supports sports clubs with energy aid

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The state of Hesse has launched its own aid program and is thus supporting sports clubs with additional energy aid. From March 1st, member clubs and associations of the State Sports Association of Hesse can apply for compensation payments online up to a maximum of 5,000 euros, the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport announced on Tuesday in Wiesbaden.

"For many Hessian sports clubs, the significantly increased energy costs are an enormous burden that can sometimes threaten their existence," said Sports Minister Peter Beuth (CDU). With the energy aid of the state of Hesse, you start "targeted and exactly where clubs fall through the grid of federal programs".

In order to receive the funding, the additional energy costs of the clubs must verifiably amount to at least 1000 euros. 80 percent of these additional costs are reimbursed, up to a maximum of 5,000 euros. Only in justified cases of hardship are there payments in excess of the maximum amount set.

"This compensation payment is a lifeline for all sports clubs that see themselves threatened by the immense increase in energy costs," said State Sports Association President Juliane Kuhlmann about the grants, which are part of the €3.58 billion aid program "Hessen Stands Together".
