Hesse: Judgment expected in the process of robbery and murder of a 100-year-old

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - In the trial for the robbery and murder of a 100-year-old, the verdict is expected today at the Frankfurt Regional Court. The victim's former caregiver, accused of murder, is to receive a life sentence, according to the prosecutor's application. The defense, on the other hand, expressed doubts about the perpetrators of the 41-year-old and requested an acquittal.

The accused is accused of suffocating the elderly woman in bed with a pillow in her apartment in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen in January last year. She was then caught by the current caregiver, who happened to be returning from shopping, rummaging through the woman's desk. The accused had not commented on the murder allegation in the process that had been running since April. The deceased was the daughter of the biophysicist and Frankfurt honorary citizen Friedrich Dessauer (1881-1963), who worked as a translator, editor and author.
