Hesse: More bankruptcies in Hesse in 2022

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - In Hesse, more companies have gone bankrupt this year than in 2021. The insolvency rate, i.e. the number of insolvencies per 10,000 companies, rose from 47 to 54, according to data from the credit agency published on Tuesday Credit reform emerges.

Accordingly, five federal states have a higher insolvency rate than Hesse: Berlin (86 cases per 10,000 companies), Bremen (82), Hamburg (62), North Rhine-Westphalia (61) and Saxony-Anhalt (55). According to the information, the rate is lowest in Bavaria (35).

Nationwide, for the first time since the economic crisis of 2009, there are signs of an increase in the number of company bankruptcies. According to Creditreform estimates, around 14,700 companies will have gone to insolvency court by the end of the current year. According to calculations by the credit agency, that would be around four percent more than in 2021. Rising energy costs and high general inflation are affecting both companies and consumers. Like other experts, Creditreform expects a further increase in company bankruptcies in 2023.

According to official figures, in 2021, which was still heavily influenced by the corona pandemic, there were 13,993 cases of bankruptcies in Germany, the lowest number since the current insolvency code was introduced in 1999. In order to avert a wave of bankruptcies as a result of the pandemic, the state had made exceptions possible .
