Hesse: Rhine provides information on the results of federal-state meetings

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Hesse's Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) wants to provide information on the results of the federal-state meeting this Thursday (1 p.m.) in Wiesbaden. In the round with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), an agreement was reached on Wednesday evening on a package to finance the planned billion-euro relief in the energy crisis.

The federal and state governments have also agreed that a nationwide 49-euro monthly ticket for buses and trains in local and regional transport will be introduced in the coming year. In addition, financing issues relating to housing benefits and the accommodation of refugees were clarified, and additional financial support measures for cases of hardship, for example in the health care and cultural sectors, were agreed.

Prior to the federal-state negotiations, Prime Minister Rhein had called on the federal government to be willing to compromise. After the meeting in Berlin, he said that the people who made the decisions "finally got the long-awaited planning security in uncertain times".

He rated the result of the consultations as a success for the states as a whole: "Following our pressure, the federal government has moved on essential issues such as the gas and electricity price brake, but also on the regionalization funds and the refugees." The federal states, for their part, have also shown willingness to compromise.
