Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - According to the police, around 80 people demonstrated for solidarity with Ukraine at a rally on Paulsplatz in Frankfurt on Wednesday evening. Several parties had called for the demonstration under the motto "Peace, freedom, democracy and independence for a free Ukraine in a free Europe".
The group then wanted to move on to a rally on Willy-Brandt-Platz. According to the police, around 500 participants had been registered for this demonstration. Similar campaigns were also planned in other Hessian cities, and there was to be a benefit concert in Kassel.
Exactly six months ago, Russia launched an invasion to conquer Ukraine. At the same time, Wednesday is Ukrainian Independence Day.
