Hesse: Stada-Report: Mental health has suffered from Corona

Bad Vilbel (dpa/lhe) - According to a survey, corona, war and climate change are putting pressure on the psyche of the population. 29 percent of Germans say their mental health has deteriorated overall since the pandemic began, according to the 2022 Stada Health Report. In a representative survey, the Bad Vilbel-based pharmaceutical group asked around 30,000 people from 15 European countries, including 2,000 Germans.

When it comes to the subjective assessment of their own mental health, only twelve percent of Germans said they were mentally bad or even very bad. Every second person said they felt mentally good or very good. The rest feel that their own mental health is "okay".

According to the survey, every second German is plagued by concerns about burnout: 13 percent say they have already experienced burnout, 14 percent "often" feel as if they are about to, another 23 percent knew the feeling at least temporarily.

27 percent of those surveyed in Germany said their stress level had worsened since the beginning of the pandemic. "Confidence in the healthcare system is also suffering from all these negative developments," write the authors of the report. 22 percent of Germans were dissatisfied with the healthcare system. 53 percent said the government had "poorly" managed the pandemic.
