The 38-year-old initially overlooked the traffic jam and was then unable to brake in time, the police said on Thursday evening. During the evasive maneuver, he collided with the ambulance, which was empty except for the driver and passenger, and a car. After the accident near Pfungstadt (Darmstadt-Dieburg district), the driver and passenger should have been taken to the hospital as a precaution, they had been thrown against the crash barrier and another car by the impact with their car.
