Hesse: Turning truck forces regional train to emergency brake

Altenstadt/Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - A truck driver forced a regional train to make an emergency stop in Wetterau. As the federal police in Frankfurt announced on Wednesday, the 65-year-old driver with his 40-ton truck ran into a level crossing when turning and thus blocked the rail line. The driver of the approaching train saw the obstacle in time and braked.

According to their own statements, the Federal Police are now investigating the truck driver because of the dangerous intervention in rail traffic. Because of the repair work, 13 trains were delayed. There was minor damage to the barrier system because the barriers lowered while the truck was still underneath. Nobody was injured in the incident on Tuesday near Altenstadt.
