Thuringia: High energy prices reduce the result of Geratherm AG

Geschwenda (dpa/th) - Exports have boosted the business of the Thuringian medical technology provider Geratherm, but high energy prices have pushed the result down. This is the result of the figures for the listed company headquartered in Geschwenda in southern Thuringia after three quarters. According to the board of directors on Wednesday, sales at the end of September amounted to 18.4 million euros, 1.5 percent more than in the same period last year.

Exports increased by 4.0 percent to 14.7 million euros. 80 percent of the revenues were generated abroad. Above all, business in the USA and South America has picked up noticeably. Geratherm sales of devices and sensors for measuring lung function increased by six percent this year - the board also attributed this to more measurements due to Long Covid.

Despite the positive sales development, profits fell significantly. It fell by 15.5 percent to 890,000 euros. The Executive Board attributed this to significantly increased energy and procurement prices and a special effect in the past year.

With around 200 employees, Geratherm primarily manufactures clinical thermometers, blood pressure monitors and devices for measuring lung function. The production of clinical thermometers is currently running at full capacity. Investments will continue to be made in new production facilities.
