Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Two major theater festivals are coming up in Frankfurt: In autumn, the Schauspiel Frankfurt and the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, together with the Federal Agency for Civic Education, are organizing the "Politics in the Free Theater" festival (September 29 to August 8). October 2022). In the summer of 2023, the international festival "Theater der Welt" will take place in Frankfurt and Offenbach (June 29 to July 16, 2023). The festival is curated by the Japanese Chiaki Soma. Theater, dance and performances from different countries can be seen, as reported by the theater on Tuesday when the upcoming program was presented.

The program of the play otherwise includes 19 premieres, nine of which are world premieres. According to artistic director Anselm Weber, the focus is on ecology and counter-realities. The season opens on September 22nd with "Onkel Wanja", directed by Jan Bosse. The premieres also include the dramatization of the novel "My favorite animal is called Winter" by Ferdinand Schmalz.

After years, dance will return to the theater stage in the coming season. One of the guests is the Israeli choreographer Saar Magal, who wants to develop "10 Odd Emotions", a dance theater about racism and anti-Semitism, in January 2023. Dancers from the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company - which emerged from the ballet division of the city's theaters - and actors from the ensemble stand together on the stage.
