Hesse: With a fake 200-euro note in the kiosk: money counterfeiting process

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - He wanted to pay for a packet of cigarettes with a counterfeit 200 euro banknote at a kiosk - now a man has to answer to the Frankfurt District Court. The indictment accuses the 33-year-old of counterfeiting and fraud in the proceedings, which began on Thursday. He is said to have bought 50 more "flowers" but had no real money with him. In court, he denied knowing about the forgery. He got the bills from his mother.

After the kiosk owner checked the bill and noticed the fake, there was a scuffle with other customers in the store, during which the man's ID card fell out of his purse. Therefore, he was quickly identified as the alleged perpetrator.

On the first day of the hearing, the magistrate saw the need to invite the man's mother to the witness stand. At another hearing in mid-October, the origin of the other 50 counterfeit banknotes is to be clarified.
