Frankfurt (Main (dpa/lhe) - The State Sports Association of Hesse (lsb h) has welcomed the call by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) to organized sport to save energy: "In this way we can make an important contribution to overcoming the energy crisis," said lsb h-President Juliane Kuhlmann on Tuesday: The fact that the DOSB provides the 90,000 sports clubs in Germany with a step-by-step plan with savings potential and the goal of saving 20 percent energy is an "important help".

Like the DOSB, the Hessian sports official also criticized the fact that sport was not included in the federal government's third relief package. "Our clubs urgently need financial help," Kuhlmann warned. She also supported the DOSB's request to political decision-makers to take the interests of sport into account in all necessary decisions in the energy crisis. "We appeal to the municipalities to involve organized sport - especially when closures are threatened," she said.

In its announcement, the DOSB emphasizes that organized sport is once again taking on social responsibility in this difficult situation. At the same time, the umbrella organization expects politicians not to regard sport as just a leisure activity and to include it in all decisions in accordance with its high status.
