This Saturday, July 9, a base jumper fell under the Turbat pass, at La Chapelle-en-Valgaudemar. After opening his parachute, he crashed in scree at Cote-Belle around 2:05 p.m. The man had taken off from the summit of Olan (la Chapelle-en-Valgaudemar) in a wingsuit. He was polytraumatized and two CRS from Briancon rescued him. A doctor from Smur also jumped aboard the helicopter, which was being flown by the air detachment from the gendarmerie. He was taken to the Gap hospital.
Les Orres was also saved by the Briancon CRS about an hour later. A 35-year old mountain biker was injured in a fall at the park and needed to be rescued by firefighters and Smur's doctor. He was suffering from head trauma and was taken to Escartons hospital.
One person was injured in another mountain accident on Friday just before 8 p.m. A rock fall occurred near Champoleon's Tourond refuge. It claimed the life of a 46-year old hiker.
An open fracture of his tibia fibula caused him to fall. He was transported to the hospital by the Grenoble CRS.
