'I want to make it official': Henry Cavill confirms comeback as Superman

Actor Henry Cavill will once again slip into his skintight Superman costume. On Instagram he gives a "little foretaste of what is to come" and reveals why he had to keep the secret behind the mountain for so long.

After years of rumours, it is now clear: Henry Cavill will once again slip into his Superman costume. The British actor has now confirmed his comeback on Instagram. "I want to make it official that I'm going back as Superman," the 39-year-old said in a short video. He said he wanted to wait until last weekend to make the announcement after the new DC film "Black Adam" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson started on October 20.

Because: At the end of the strip, Cavill has a short cameo appearance as Superman, who declares war on Black Adam. He still wanted to "give his fans the chance" to see the adventure for themselves. "Black Adam" is "a little taste of what's to come," Cavill said. And Dwayne Johnson also hinted in an interview that he would like a film in which his Black Adam competes against Superman.

It's now almost ten years since Cavill made a solo appearance as Superman in 'Man of Steel' (2013). News recently circulated that DC and the Warner Bros. film studio are said to be working on a sequel to the 2013 Superman flick. Charles Roven could serve as a producer for the project. He produced the original almost ten years ago and was responsible for, among other things, "Justice League" - Superman's appearances in the team of DC heroes. We are currently looking for a screenwriter. Christopher McQuarrie is also said to be on the wish list. The director and writer collaborated with Henry Cavill on 'Mission Impossible: Fallout' (2018).

Cavill recently revealed that his career could easily have taken a different direction. In 2006 he almost became James Bond, but then Cavill fell through the casting for the Bond film "Casino Royale" because he allegedly didn't seem fit enough for a shower scene. However, this did not detract from his powers as Superman. He still has confidence in the role of the next Bond, Cavill revealed in an interview.
