Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - After a man in Neubrandenburg is said to have attacked a 25-year-old with an ax, the Neubrandenburg public prosecutor's office has applied for an arrest warrant against the 43-year-old perpetrator. Now a judge must decide whether pre-trial detention is ordered, the Neubrandenburg police said on Saturday afternoon.
The perpetrator is said to have slightly injured a 25-year-old with an ax on Friday afternoon. Previously, he had apparently tried to damage the pane of a migration center. It was initially unclear whether the victim and the suspect knew each other, but the police now assume there is a personal connection between the two. A large contingent of state and federal police searched for the fugitive for several hours. The emergency services finally found what they were looking for in Neubrandenburg's Reitbahn district. The man did not resist his arrest, police said on Friday. The police are investigating possible motives.
