Bansin (dpa/mv) - A week after a series of hotel burglaries on the island of Rügen, thieves have now hit a hotel on the neighboring island of Usedom. As a police spokeswoman said on Monday, a holiday accommodation in the Baltic Sea resort of Bansin (West Pomerania-Greifswald) was broken into and a cash box with proceeds was stolen. The incident happened on Monday night and was reported in the morning after employees noticed the damage.
The perpetrators also plundered a cigarette machine in the hotel, so that the total damage is said to be several thousand euros. The crime scene is not far from the Baltic Sea beach.
Just a week ago, five such burglaries in hotels and a youth hostel were reported on Rügen. Three facilities in Sellin and other holiday homes in Lohme and Glowe (West Pomerania-Rügen) were affected. The cases could not be cleared up so far, it said on Monday.
