Groß Schwansee (dpa/mv) - A looted safe in the forest has brought the police in northwest Mecklenburg on the trail of burglars. As a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday, the broken container was found in a forest south of Kalkhorst. Investigations revealed that thieves had probably stolen the safe with its contents on October 12 from a residential building in Groß Schwansee north of Kalkhorst. The residents were away at the time. Papers from them were found in the safe.
According to previous investigations, a five-figure sum of cash, watches and other valuables was stolen. The safe had been broken out of its mounting, which also resulted in damage. The investigators secured traces and are now hoping for observations from witnesses in the region. Groß Schwansee is not far from the Baltic Sea.
