Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: car with children and tractor burn: nobody injured

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - Within a short time, a tractor and a car caught fire on the Mecklenburg Lake District. As a police spokesman said on Friday, fire brigades had to move in to extinguish the burning vehicles on Thursday in Chemnitz near Neubrandenburg and on Autobahn 20 near Warlin. In both cases, technical defects are said to have been the cause. The total damage was estimated at almost 160,000 euros.

First, the car with four occupants, including a 34-year-old driver from the Vorpommern-Rügen district and three children, caught fire on the A20. At the Neubrandenburg-Ost exit, the woman left the car with presence of mind and fled with the children. They escaped unscathed, but were taken to a clinic for observation. Firefighters extinguished the car fire, the exit was blocked for more than an hour.

Almost at the same time, a tractor driver was mowing a green strip on an unpaved road in Chemnitz when the fire broke out there. The farm tractor and the mower were badly damaged. Here alone, the damage was estimated at more than 150,000 euros. The driver was not injured.
