Neuenkirchen (dpa / mv) - A worker died in an accident on the premises of a farm in Neuenkirchen (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). A wall about five meters high, made of concrete blocks each weighing 2.4 tons, collapsed on Friday afternoon for reasons that have not yet been explained and buried the 23-year-old man, the police said.
With him there was another employee of the same age in the company's hall, which is used for grain storage. This stood in the compartment surrounded by the concrete wall, in which about 700 tons of rapeseed were stored. His colleague was on a ladder leaning against one of the outside walls.
The worker who was standing on the rapeseed was able to get himself to safety in the accident. He was physically unharmed but suffered shock. The buried person was freed after about 40 minutes by firefighters and died at the scene of the accident.
