Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Cyclists collect 100,000 euros on the Hanseatic Sunshine Tour

Bad Doberan (dpa/mv) - The 170 cyclists of the Hanse-Tour Sonnenschein have covered more than 500 kilometers for a good cause in the past few days and collected around 100,000 euros in donations. The money is intended for children with cancer and chronic diseases, as the organizers announced after the 26th tour ended on Sunday. The cyclists started in Rostock on Wednesday.

The four-day charity stage trip led via Bützow and Schwerin to Hagenow (Ludwigslust-Parchim district). Day trips to the Schaalsee region and the area between Ludwigslust and Schwerin started from there. On Saturday the tour went via Wismar to Bad Doberan and back to Rostock.

The cyclists themselves also contribute at least 50 euros to the donations. The participants included Rostock's Mayor Claus Ruhe Madsen (independent), who took over the organization of the Hanseatic Tour in 2017.
