Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Drese: Mecklenburg undersupplied with air rescue

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - According to the Minister of Health, the western part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is undersupplied with air rescue. "Our task is to ensure good and, above all, uniform coverage of air rescue in our country at socially acceptable user fees," said Stefanie Drese (SPD) on Thursday in Schwerin. Rescue helicopters would have to be stationed where they were most useful.

According to the information, there are currently three air rescue locations in the country: in Güstrow, Greifswald and Neustrelitz. In addition, the Rostock Südtstadt-Klinikum maintains the only intensive care transport helicopter in the north-east.

Due to the importance for health care, the minister wants to bring forward a mandatory review of rescue services by 2026. According to Drese, there are initial proposals for discussion at a technical level. However, the political decision should only come at the end.
