Kiel/Schwerin (dpa/mv) - According to forecasts, the number of unemployed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania increased at the beginning of the year. Labor market experts are assuming growth both compared to the previous month and compared to January 2022. The Regional Directorate North of the Federal Employment Agency will publish the official figures on Tuesday (10:00 a.m.). The higher numbers are explained by seasonal effects.
The number of unemployed rose in the last few months of the previous year. At the end of 2022, 62,000 people in the north-east were unemployed. The unemployment rate was 7.6 percent, down from 7.3 percent in November.
