Sassnitz/Lubmin (dpa/mv) - The first of a total of three liquefied natural gas tankers for the planned LNG terminal in Lubmin is ready in front of Sassnitz in the Baltic Sea. The other two ships are in the pipeline, but would only start when there is a prospect of commissioning, the investor Deutsche Regas announced on Thursday. The "Ostsee-Zeitung" had previously reported on it.
The "Coral Furcata" is to bring LNG from a tanker lying off the coast to the port of Lubmin. Because of the low water depth in the Greifswalder Bodden, ships with a shallower draft are used here. According to "OZ", it has a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters, is 137 meters long and has a draft of 5.7 meters.
The private LNG project was originally scheduled to start work on December 1st. However, approval from the EU Commission and approval from the State Office for Agriculture and the Environment in Western Pomerania (Stalu) are still missing. While the former can be available at any time according to the company, Regas considers the approval of the statu to be possible at least in the course of December. Objections to the project are currently being processed.
The FSRU ship (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) required to convert the liquefied natural gas into its normal gaseous state had already arrived on the West Pomeranian coast. Here, too, the approval is still awaited until the ship is towed to its place of use in the Lubminer Hafen if the weather is favourable.
