Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Greens accuse the board of directors of the climate foundation of delaying tactics

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The Greens parliamentary group in Schwerin sees the refusal of the MV Climate Foundation to pay gift taxes as a delaying tactic. "People in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania not only have a right to transparency, but also to having lawfully levied taxes paid by everyone here in the state," said Parliamentary Secretary Constanze Oehlrich on Wednesday in Schwerin.

Foundation head Erwin Sellering (SPD) should do this as soon as possible. With his refusal, the ex-prime minister is damaging the rule of law and the reputation of political offices.

The tax authorities are demanding taxes of almost 10 million euros from the MV climate foundation on grants from the pipeline operator Nord Stream 2. Sellering regards the demand as unlawful. From the point of view of the CEO, an agreed resignation of the board of directors between the foundation and the state government is not possible until the dispute has been clarified. This also delays the dissolution sought by the state government and state parliament.
