Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: House fire after work on the roof: 200,000 euros in damage

Wismar (dpa / mv) - After a house fire with damage of around 200,000 euros, the police in Wismar are investigating on suspicion of negligent arson. As a police spokeswoman said on Thursday, the fire is said to have broken out on Tuesday while working on the roof of the semi-detached house in the Dargetzow district. The 57-year-old owner of the affected half of the house and his neighbor had tried in vain to extinguish the fire, with the 57-year-old being injured by smoke gas. The fire was extinguished by firefighters, but the semi-detached house was uninhabitable. The other half of the house was unharmed. Experts are now investigating what work was done on the roof and who worked there.
