Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Increased costs: the first panels receive state funding

Rostock (dpa/mv) - For the first time, Tafeln in the north-east have received the funding decided by the state in view of the increased costs. On Thursday, Social Affairs Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) and the Chairwoman of the Volunteer Foundation MV, Hannelore Kohl, handed over a corresponding agreement to the boards of the Rostock city mission, as announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs. It is about 40,000 euros for a total of 16 distribution points in and around Rostock with around 5000 users a week.

Drese was quoted as saying that the panels themselves are under pressure because of increased costs, while they are supporting the needy right now in the energy crisis and with rising food prices. As part of a hardship fund, the state supports, among other things, food banks and similar offers such as soup kitchens in the north-east. The total of 325,000 euros will be disbursed via the Volunteer Foundation.
