Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Against the background of growing fears of high energy and food prices, the left in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is looking for direct contact with the citizens. Today (10.00 a.m.) members of the left faction in the state parliament in Neukloster (Northwest Mecklenburg) start a country outing lasting several days. A total of 23 cities and communities are to be visited by August 6th. The stations also include Kühlungsborn, Schwaan, Warin, Teterow, Rehna, Grevesmühlen and Boltenhagen.
The left wants to talk to people at markets and promenades. "In this way we can take care of the worries and problems unfiltered and take care of them," said parliamentary group leader Jeannine Rösler before the start. In addition to members and employees of the parliamentary group, Ina Latendorf, member of the Bundestag, is also looking for dialogue.
The left has been seeing a decline in voters in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for years. In the federal and state elections last fall, the party fell well short of its own goals.
