Ückeritz/Anklam (dpa/mv) - The police stopped a minibus with two drunk drivers in Ückeritz on the island of Usedom in August. The incident was already on August 16 and only became known after the monthly police checks in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district had been evaluated, as a police spokesman said on Friday.
Witnesses had noticed the serpentine journey of the minibus. They alerted law enforcement. In addition, passers-by saw how the people in the driver's seat changed their position on the way, as the spokesman said. The police stopped the minibus. In the car were a 39-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man who wanted to go to Poland.
During the check, the woman's breath alcohol was found to be 2.87 per mil and the 41-year-old 3.20 per mil breath alcohol. In addition, according to the information, both no longer had a driver's license. The couple had to move on without a car and face fines for drunk driving and driving without a license.
According to the police in Anklam, more than 1,000 speed offenders, 231 right-of-way violations, 98 mobile phone offenders and 26 alcohol incidents were identified during the controls in August.
