Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Police record almost 130 traffic accidents per day

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The police in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania recorded almost 130 traffic accidents per day in the first few months of the year. "By the end of February, there were a total of 7,456 traffic accidents in our country. That's 272 more than in the previous year," said Interior Minister Christian level (SPD) on Sunday. In 2022, according to the level, the police officers in the northeast registered more than 53,000 traffic accidents in the country.

At the beginning of the year, as in previous years, the main causes of road accidents with injuries were speed, right of way/priority, distance, alcohol and drugs. "That's also why the nationwide traffic controls by the police with monthly changing topics are so important," said level.
