"The perpetrators pretend to be employees of a state institution or an electricity provider and ask for personal and customer-related data," said the police in Schwerin on Thursday. The queries are justified with the electricity price brake introduced by the federal government during the energy crisis to cap electricity costs for consumers.
According to the information, the data will then be used for criminal purposes. The damage varies. The police called on citizens to be suspicious and not to divulge sensitive information lightly.
