Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Sellering: Do not condemn companies for Nord Stream 2

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - After the publication of the companies involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the board of the Climate Foundation MV asks that the companies not be pilloried. "These companies only did what the state government and state parliament expressly wanted at the time," the foundation said in a statement on Monday in Schwerin.

Foundation head Erwin Sellering (SPD) also promised to disclose the contracts concluded with the foundation to the parliamentary investigative committee in the state parliament: "There is nothing mysterious, nothing that could give rise to conspiracy theories".

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) also stated in an interview with the Ostsee-Zeitung (OZ/Monday edition): "The companies worked on an infrastructure project approved by the rule of law, which was supported by the federal government at the time".

The Climate Foundation was funded largely by money from Russian gas deals. Through a specially founded commercial business, she had placed orders with companies that were to ensure the completion of the German-Russian gas pipeline.

After the dismissal of a constitutional complaint before the Federal Constitutional Court, the foundation had to name the approximately 80 companies involved to the press on Friday. Sellering had refused, pointing out that he feared disadvantages for the company.
