Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Storm damaged roofs and vehicles

Kemnitz/Barth (dpa/mv) - In eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, violent gusts of wind have occasionally caused covered roofs, fallen trees and brief traffic delays. The police estimate the damage caused between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at around 600,000 euros, as a police spokesman said on Wednesday. In Kemnitz (West Pomerania-Greifswald) alone, damage of around 500,000 euros was incurred, where the roof of a warehouse on which a solar system was located was torn down.

Parts of the roof damaged cars on a neighboring property. In addition, mobile homes that were parked in the warehouse were affected. Nobody got hurt. In Gülitz (Mecklenburg Lake District), the strong wind covered the roof of a carport and threw it onto the street. Trees fell on roads near Galenbeck and near Ferdinandshof. In Barth (West Pomerania-Rügen), three cars were damaged when branches broke off trees and fell on them.
