North Rhine-Westphalia: 32,146 new corona infections reported: incidence at 614.8

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In North Rhine-Westphalia, the seven-day incidence has broken through the 600 mark. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value for the registered new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Tuesday morning as 614.8. A week ago the incidence was well below 350, four weeks ago it was 230.0. Nationwide, the value of 787.5 on Tuesday was significantly higher than in the most populous federal state.

The health authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia reported 32,146 new infections and 26 new deaths related to the virus to the RKI within 24 hours.

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
